LaGrange, Kentucky native Carter Woosley holds positions as Bass Trombonist with the West Michigan Symphony and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and Principal Bass Trombonist with the Bourbon & Brass Company. He has appeared as Principal Trombone of the Opera in the Ozarks, and as a substitute trombone for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Elgin Symphony and the Des Moines Symphony. He has recorded with the Gargoyle Brass, has played sessions at the Chicago Recording Company, and can be heard in numerous DePaul Wind Ensemble recordings on the tenor, bass and contrabass trombones, and euphonium. He was a member of the 2019 Forecastle Symphony. As a teacher, Carter has held positions as a Pre-K Music Instructor for Mr. Music Man of Chicago and Trombone faculty at DePaul University Community Music Division
Carter holds a Master's of Music Performance from DePaul University and a Bachelor's of Music Performance from the University of Louisville. He was awarded with “Honorable Mention” and Runner Up for the 2019 and 2020 UofL Concerto Competitions. Carter’s mentors include Charlie Vernon, Mark Fisher, Dr. Brett Shuster, Dr. Bryan Heath, Mark Kersting, Dr. Nathan Siler and Brad Rogers
Carter is an avid arranger, his arrangements have been performed by the Louisville Brass, Bourbon & Brass Co., DePaul Faculty Trombone Quartet, Sideshow Brass, UofL Trombone Ensemble, Oldham County High School Trombone Ensemble, and others.
